Please note: before making this post, I did read the community profile to make sure that there was no specific request NOT to have posts looking for volunteers, etc posted here. If you are a moderator of this community and you don't want posts like this, please let me know at the email address listed below and I'll be happy to remove my post.

A little about me and why I'm doing this:

My name is Kat. I am a graduate student in the Human Sexuality Studies. This research is for my Master’s Thesis. The reason I'm doing it is because there are no good survey measures out there that really look at self-esteem related to sexuality. Being in a numbers-lovin' society, being able to really evaluate abstract things like self-esteem is important. It is the numbers generated by research studies that convince the government and other funding agencies to give money to social services like rape victim support, GLBT resources, positive body image campaigns, etc. Also, without a good way to look at self-esteem and mental health, journalists, government agencies, media, and society in general tend to use public statistics which are always problem oriented. I'm tired of people talking about queer mental health in the context of suicide rates and hate crimes, so I'm trying to give people a way to discuss issues around sexuality that are NOT based on arrests, crime statistics, and law-suits. Volunteering for this study would really help me out in working towards this goal. Thanks!

As more older workers retire, employers are increasingly looking to younger workers to bring new life into their companies. The Millennial Generation (16 to 29 year olds) is poised to dominate the labor force in the coming years and companies need to know what members of this generation are looking for in terms of careers and how to engage them.

The New Voices Project aims to learn as much as possible about this rising generation and use that knowledge to help facilitate the interaction between employers and young workers.

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young.  GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at:  www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the United States.

Cory was supposed to have come in at 9am today
which he did because I heard people paging him on the PA
he was to work with David from Pearl Ridge and give him the
tour of the store.

I saw Cory once during the day as he was probably showing him the offices
in the shoe stock room.
After I was done I sent him a text message asking where he was and he said he
was trying to head down to the hub but he must have got called to another
I heard Michael call for him to go to men's.  I have feeling michael just wanted
him out of the women's area so I couldn't see him.
I bought one of those farewell cards for andy and cory but andy already left!!

There were A LOT of Z racks on the floor that were already done.
They are having a really big sale tomorrow and I only have to work till 1pm
yea!!  Next week I'm completely at 6am.

I created this quiz this morning relating to the seven chakras.

All the statements of choice are taken from Pathways to a Radiant Self by Kathy Pike.

The quiz takes about 5-10 minutes to complete, and the information gained even just from rating each statement 1-5 may enlighten you for days, weeks, years to come. If you are intrigued by the quiz, I highly recommend looking into obtaining the book listed above. It not only goes into more detail regarding each of the 'energy-centers' or 'chakras', it also gives exercises and suggestions on how to strengthen and support each one of them.

You scored as Sahasrara (Crown of Head/Conciousness/Beliefs). The seventh chakra, named Sahasrara, is located at the crown of the head. It is the gateway to the universal energy and a spiritual life. The color of this chakra is white, or iridescent, integrating all the colors of the other six chakras. The element of this chakra is thought. Thought is used as a vehicle for increasing the levels of self-awareness and conciousness. In the seventh chakra, all the aspects of the spiritual being are integrated. By increasing one's awareness of the power of the mind, one becomes more concious of who they are and how they create an open channel to connect with spiritual energy. The seventh chakra is about being open, expansive, present, and embracing the web of the universe. It is here that one opens to the experience of the meaning of spiritual bliss.

Sahasrara (Crown of Head/Conciousness/Beliefs)

Ajna (Forehead/Third Eye/Intuition)

Vishuddha (Throat/Communication/Creativity)

Anahata (Heart/Relationships/Love)

Svadhisthana (Sacral/Desire/Creativity)

Muladhara (Root /Survial/Attitude)

Manipura (Solar Plexus/Personal Power)

What is your prominent chakra?

What musical stereotype are you? (with songs)
I made another quiz! It's got links to songs in the end with the results. Hope you enjoy!

What musical stereotype are you? (with SONGS)

A dying breed - easy to spot and easier still to poke fun at - maybe that's why you've gone almost totally nocturnal. Electronic music just sounds better in the dark, anyway, doesn't it? Your finger muscles are strongly developed from turning your light switch into a strobe and your clothes are shiny and look great under a blacklight. You spend your weeks in an after-party haze, waiting for the weekend to come so you can show off your glowsticking skills and meet up with all the beautiful people again. Don't eat random pills from the floor, drink lots of water, and you should be fine.

Pirate Ninja Monk Quiz
You are a Pirate!

Shiver me timbers matey, you're a real pirate! Your ideal day would be drinking a lot of rum and drunkenly boarding another vessel. Just make sure your behaviour doesn't make you too many enemies or you might get given the black spot.

What Indie Rock Subgenre do you fall into? (with songs and pictures!)
Hey guys, I posted this quiz before, but I updated the results with images. It's still just as rad, but now it has awesome photos/graphics in the end - I used myself and my friends to be the different results. :)

The quiz is a "What Indie Rock Subgenre Are You?" quiz, and the results have a link to a song embedded into them (the link isn't active til you post it into your journal, otherwise it's just a URL).

Here's the result that uses my picture (and uh... it's probably the most "what I am" anyway). ;)

What indie rock subgenre do you fall into?

You are what we lovingly like to call "The Scene That Celebrates Itself" - that's the sweet way of calling you one big, fluffy, self-referential (not to mention self deprecating) circle jerk. Don't worry, though, you're a very sweet and pretty circle jerk, yesyouare! You're not the biggest fan of eye contact, and you wouldn't hurt a fly - unless it was accidentally sitting on your fuzz petal when you went to stomp out that final crescendo.
Lush's Sweetness And Light seems to have gotten it just right for you: http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/12062487

hey! sorry if this is considered spam, but i've posted quizzes a few times here before and figured i'd let you know about this: instead of going through and posting my new quizzes on every quiz community, i'm just starting one for my own site. so if you're interested in my quizzes (some ones you might remember are 'What is your Life Rated?' and 'What Color Volkswagen are You?'), watch the community caffeinenebula.

also part of caffeine nebula are the quote of the day site and the rants site, so those will be posted in updates on that community as well.
